攝影、電視編輯、影視媒體類方向一般都可歸類到傳媒專業(yè)下（除了某些純攝影的課程），與傳媒專業(yè)下其它方向相比，國內(nèi)申請者的基數(shù)相對較小，這一點可以通過各大BBS論壇上對此方向關(guān)注度不高的現(xiàn)象推理出來。這可能是與這些方向就業(yè)比較困難有關(guān)。據(jù)一位在NEWHOUSE呆了一年的網(wǎng)友說NEWHOUSE的TRF(Television, Radio, and Film)畢業(yè)生不是很好找工作。

因此估計，申請這個方向的難度與傳媒的其它方向，如PR等相比差低一些。

另外，從申請人背景的角度來看，攝影、電視編輯、影視媒體類要求申請人具備一定的相關(guān)的專業(yè)背景。如攝影方向，可能會要求申請人提交作品集。這與傳媒的其它一些偏理論或管理的方向有較大的不同。

基本上可以分為兩類，一是藝術(shù)型的攝影課程，二是傳媒型的攝影課程。

藝術(shù)型的攝影課程是指那些主要為提高藝術(shù)技藝的課程，傳媒型的攝影課程是指與傳媒結(jié)合而主要服務(wù)于傳媒的攝影課程。

1. 藝術(shù)型的攝影課程

藝術(shù)型的攝影課程又可以分為純粹的攝影課程和與其它視覺藝術(shù)混合的課程。

純粹的攝影課程

1. 傳媒型的攝影課程

此類課程要求學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)大眾傳媒中的交叉方向，并不是一個純粹的攝影藝術(shù)的課程。包括， illustrative photography, advertising photography, and photojournalism. 除了要學(xué)習(xí)這些攝影課程外，學(xué)生還需要掌握graphic arts, writing, advertising, and interactive communications等知識。但學(xué)生的就業(yè)前景并不局限于傳媒業(yè)，也可以在攝影棚，或教育機構(gòu)就業(yè)。

• 電視編輯、影視媒體類：

均屬于Mass Communication（大眾傳媒）學(xué)科之內(nèi)。

按照學(xué)習(xí)的側(cè)重點不同，Mass Communication的課程基本上分為著重學(xué)習(xí)理論，制作或管理三類。

1. 偏重于理論的課程
